Nestled in the center of the historical Marais area, just a step away from the H? Sal?Picasso museum), in Paris, Maison Toussaint, manufactures lampshades for almost two centuries. Its brilliant founder, Nicolas Toussaint, who created the firm in 1822, and his descendants stayed in the currents of the XIX century industrial revolution by encasing paraffin lamps, then at the turn of the century turned to creations for the electric light. In 1993, Philippe Daucet bought out the family business. With the help of his two partners, he gave a new lease of life to the firm although it retained its traditional know how. About fifteen workers in the workshop, manufacture manually about 100.000 lampshades per year, drawing on a reserve of 3.500 templates in different forms and styles (cone-shaped, feston-shaped, empire-shaped, drum-shaped..).In our office and show room in Pastourelle street, five employees are welcoming and advising customers (decorators, designers, big shops, hotels, …), placing orders, following the manufacturing process and working to penetrate new foreign market, such as the Middle East, and the United States.
